Barkat Meaning | बरकत,برکت

Barkat is an Urdu word of Arabic origin, whose meaning is primarily increase, increment, gain. However, the word is mostly used to talk about a kind of blessing which makes someone gain wealth, property, or is considered good for business etc.

So if someone tells you they are doing something because it gives them 'barkat' (barkat is feminine, so it's mostly used as barkat hoti hai, barkat aati hai etc.), it means they consider the activity lucky for their wealth or business.

Also, a lot of people think the word is barqat, as in, the k sound is from the epiglottis, like in qaayda or qaum. But it's just a normal k sound, like in kashish or kitaab.
