Lajjaa/ Lajja Meaning [लज्जा]

Lajjaa or Lajja is a common Hindi word which means shame, OR shyness, coyness.

Even though the two things are not entirely the same, they're expressed in Hindi/ Urdu with the same words, something like perspiration and sweat, which though different in meaning, are expressed in Hindi/ Urdu with the same word Paseena [पसीना].

Lajjaa, though common across many languages [Taslima Nasrin's Bengali book was called Lajjaa (লজ্জা) too.], is relatively less popular in Hindi compared to its Urdu counterpart 'sharm' [शर्म,شرم] which is used almost equally frequently in Urdu and Hindi.
