Harfanmaula Meaning [हरफनमौला]

Harfanmaula is an Urdu word which can be understood easily once you break it up into its parts.

Har-Fan-Maula.

Now har is every, fan is art, and maula is God. I am not sure if the Maula here exactly means God, but that's at least used for an 'expert' here.

So someone, who is an expert of every art, is known as harfanmaula. The word is almost a perfect translation for 'allrounder'.

  2. I would say it is used in jest, to suggest that a person is full of himself as if he was "a master of all trades" while he might really be a jack of none.:-) Similar idea as "tees maar khan," I think.
